Jan's extensive legal and academic experience comes in handy whenever there is a need for joint advice and resolution of challenging and non- standard cases. His specialisms include private law, with a particular focus on employment law and compensation. His collaborative work with academia and broader consultancy brings valuable perspectives and strategies to even the most complex cases.
Professional focus
Jan's work is characterised by his excellent knowledge of private law and his extensive experience in litigation. His expertise in employment law and in dealing with compensation issues is also significant. All of which brings a valuable contribution to THK Legal.
Academic and pedagogical activities
Jan's legal practice is complemented by his teaching and research activities at the Department of Historical Sciences, Faculty of Humanities, Charles University. Jan also engages in other publishing activities, thus sharing his deep knowledge with the wider community.
Education and language skills
Jan speaks Czech, English, German and Slovenian, which enables him to navigate the international legal environment with ease. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University, where he defended his rigorous thesis on the development of road traffic rules. At the Faculty of Arts of the same university he obtained a doctorate in Economic and Social History and in 2011 he successfully defended his habilitation thesis on the possibilities and limits of tourism in interwar Czechoslovakia.
